For many years, I have participated in athletics. I played basketball, soccer and studied karate. As I got older, running up and down the playing field got harder and harder. Sometimes, after just a few minutes of play, I would be in dire need of water. After expending so much energy on the playing field, a drink of water supplied my body with great satisfaction.
Scripture tells us that good news from a far away place provides refreshment similar to that which cold water brings to someone who is thirsty. Christians have access to good news that is life changing. The Good News of Jesus Christ furnishes the best refreshment for a weary soul.
When we are exhausted by the difficulties of life, we can find relief in the Word of God. The Word of God nurtures, comforts and saves. Through prayer and fellowship with God, we take delivery of God’s good news.
